beware the cat who holds a grudge

There is a story that I remember from my childhood, but for some reason a lot of details surrounding my childhood are foggy, so I apologize to my siblings or family who reads this and says, "that is so not how it happened."  There is also the slight possibility that I dreamed this or completely made it up, in which case I apologize again.

I remember hearing about one of my siblings, my sister maybe (?) who used to complain that one of the animals would stare at her, and that she didn't like it.  My animals stare at me all the time.  Kate, my yellow lab, will go and stand wherever I am looking (at the TV, at Andrew, whatever) so that she is in my direct line of sight - and start staring at me. She would stare at me for as long as I let her....but for some reason it really bothers me!  Even now, as I type, my cat Ginny is sitting on the bistro that is beside me in the office.......staring at me.  Actually - no - she's glaring at me.  I always wonder why she has such a need to be NEAR me, but doesn't want me to touch or acknowledge her nearness at all.  You would think that I did something terrible to her - the way she is glaring at me now.

26 weeks pregnant.  I wish I was able to focus on anything other than the 14 weeks I have to go.  From where I am sitting right now, 14 weeks feels like forever. So many things about me are changing, for better and worse.  It's a miraculous and sometimes frustrating experience. On a happy note, I found 2 very cute things for Isaac's room!

A song you should listen to:  Blessed Redeemer by Casting Crowns.  Beautiful.

Talkin' about the car wash, yeah.

I just spent almost an hour at the car wash.  It's one of those where you drive up and pay at a machine, and then wait your turn to have a different machine wash your car.  There was a car already being washed, a car behind it, and then another car behind that one....then me.  I knew that it would be about 20 minutes or so to wait, and I was fine with that.  I splurged and went for the $9 wash instead of the $7.  It came to the point where a tan car in front of me was now getting washed, so I was next.  After a long few minutes I noticed that the car washing machine wasn't moving, but that it was stuck on "rinse."  It was rinsing the front of the tan car over and over and over, not moving slowly over the rest of the car as it is supposed to.  I wasn't sure what to do.  I finally stepped out of my car because I felt the need to rescue the lady trapped in the endless rinse cycle.  I got the attendant, who stopped the wash and then started it again.  By this time I had easily been there for 30 minutes already.  The re-started car wash went off with out a hitch and the tan car drove away twice as clean as when it first arrived.  I pulled into the car wash area, and things started smoothly.  When it came to the rinse cycle though, the machine got stuck, and was repeatedly rinsing just the front of my car.  I thought, "I was brave enough to rescue the lady who went before me, surely one of the 6 cars behind me will rescue me."  Wrong.  I waited a good 5 minutes before the attendant came running over to restart my wash.  The second wash, the rinse cycle got stuck again.  This time I just pulled forward.  The attendant was very nice and told me he would hand dry my car, but I told him not to bother.  My car is twice as clean as I thought it would be.  Crazy times.  It didn't really bother me, and luckily I had no where that I needed to be.  It was just very interesting.  Nothing like that has ever happened to me before.

I forgot to say happy Valentine's Day the last time I wrote.  Happy Valentine's Day.

Painting isn't going as quickly as I had hoped, I'm not even done priming the room yet.  Crazy how life gets in the way sometimes.  Andrew is really looking out for me, and told me that I could paint under one condition:

Cabin Fever

Today I left the house for the first time since Monday.  Let's count the days...6!  6 days in the house.  I was very sick for a few days, and then it took another few days for my body to recuperate.  Apparently it was some sort of stomach flu, according to the OB/GYN nurses at Kaiser.  It wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't pregnant.  My body was quickly depleted of electrolytes leaving me very dehydrated, which only made things worse.  It kind of added "insult to injury."  Ringing in the ears, staggering dizziness, and overall exhaustion made it a terrible time.  I'm so thankful for pedalyte and an amazing husband who was there to take care of me.  It amazes me when I hear people say, "I never felt better than when I was pregnant."  Pregnancy hasn't been so nice to me.  Through it all though, I know as soon as I see my baby boy's face or hear him cry, it will all be worth it!  Thank God for understanding employers and dedicated family and friends.  God is so good to us!

It Begins

Today we got the primer for the nursery!  Before dinner I got almost 2 walls done.  One wall has the trim done, the other one doesn't.  I feel comfortable painting as I am keeping the room very well ventilated and not standing on ladders.  I'm glad that I started this early.  It is a lot of work and I can't imagine doing it with a huge belly!  Not to mention that being pregnant has made me tire easily...so I will be taking my time.  I'm sure it will take at least a week if not more to get the primer done.  I'm thinking it will need 2 coats, then I can start with the colors.  Now if I could only decide on exactly which colors I'm going to use!  I'll be sure to post pictures when the room is painted!

We are getting close to a name for our little boy.  It is a big decision!

Andrew and I were watching "Akeelah and the Bee" on the Disney channel the other night, and my faithful friend Leela was sleeping next to me on the couch.  When the movie ended, I looked over at Leela and just had to laugh.  She was sleeping in the most awkward position on the couch....a position that looked so uncomfortable.  She didn't have a problem with it, which was evident by her snoring.

 Thanks for the laugh, Leela.
